Privacy Policy

Who we are

Youzai Board Game Club runs the website qiok.net and the online board games on it. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why, and what choices you have.

What we collect

• Playing as a guest: a temporary guest identity kept in a session cookie. No name or email is needed.
• Account: your username, display name and password (stored only as a salted hash, never in readable form), and an email address if you choose to add one. The email is used only to verify and recover your account.
• Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, screen size, language and approximate country. We use it to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and show the site in your language.
• Game activity: the games you play, their moves and results, your ratings, friends list, private messages, tournament entries, and any reports, appeals or feedback you send.
• Anonymous usage statistics: page views and clicks, counted without cookies and without any account or device identifier. Nothing is collected if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

How we use it

• To run the games: matchmaking, ratings, game records, reconnecting you to a game in progress.
• To keep accounts secure and to detect spam, cheating and abuse. Automated checks only flag accounts for a person to review; penalties are decided by a person.
• To understand which games and languages are used, so we can improve the site.
• To show you notices about the service, and to show advertising.

We do not sell your personal data.

Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in (or to keep your guest identity), a cookie that remembers your language, and your browser's local storage for small preferences such as light or dark theme.

When advertising is shown, advertising partners such as Google may set their own cookies and use them to deliver and measure ads, including personalised ads where the law allows. You can manage Google's ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.

Who we share it with

• Our hosting provider (Google Cloud), which stores and processes data on our behalf.
• Advertising partners, as described above.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.

Other players can see your display name, ratings and game records, and anything you write in chat.

How long we keep it

• Game records and private messages: 90 days.
• IP address at sign-up and at last sign-in: 180 days. Sign-in history: 90 days.
• Rating history: 400 days.
• Feedback you send: 7 days. Evidence attached to handled reports: 90 days. Appeals: 365 days.
• Account details: until you delete your account.

Your choices

On your account page you can see any restriction on your account and appeal it, download a copy of your data (the file stays available for 7 days), and delete your account.

Deleting an account starts a 7-day waiting period during which you can cancel. After that your username, display name, password, email, IP addresses, friends and messages are erased. Game results are kept, but can no longer be linked to you.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as correcting your data, objecting to its use, or complaining to your data protection authority. To use them, contact us through the feedback form in the lobby of this website.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Where data is processed

Our servers are operated by Google Cloud in Asia, so your data may be processed outside your own country.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes are also announced on the site.
